FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

What: Community Collaborates for Autism/Sensory Friendly Safety Event When: April 28, 2016 10 AM- 1 PM

Where: Palm Beach School for Autism 8480 Lantana Rd.
Lake Worth, FL

Why:

Palm Beach School for Autism, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office are collaborating to develop a sensory-friendly program for students at Palm Beach School for Autism.

Did you know roughly 50 percent of children with autism will wander from a safe situation? For a parent of a child with autism, this is terrifying. This program was developed in an environment to educate young people with autism to feel safe around sirens, lights and police officers. Students will be introduced to canine units, patrol cars, and search and rescue teams that would be available to them in crisis.

!Media are welcome as we want to promote this to anyone in the community needing this type of training at their organization’s facility. For more information about Palm Beach School for Autism, please contact Abby Girton at (561) 533-9917 or via e-mail at AbbyG@pbsfa.org. You can also find us on the Web at www.pbsfa.org
