Family Resources
Staff provides information on health care options, financial assistance, support groups, respite, state and federal programs, and more. In addition, specialists can provide an overview of the special-needs system and give direct assistance and support in accessing the various levels of services..
Provides services from trained and screened caregivers who provide in-home respite care for children and adults who have a developmental disability, autism, or cerebral palsy. Families receive a break from caregiving to enable them to address other issues and needs and reduce their levels of stress.
Provides Advocates/Attorneys teach self-advocacy skills and how to navigate systems and acquire the accommodations people with disabilities need. Advocates attend I.E.P or 504 plan meetings for students with disabilities. Assist individuals in filing fair housing complaints and discrimination complaints under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) Palm Beach & Treasure Coast
FAU CARD is the first step after an individual gets diagnosed with autism or after an individual has been determined eligible with the school district. They help bridge needs with resources and services for individuals with ASD.
APD supports individuals with unique abilities and their families in living, learning and working within their communities by creating multiple pathways to possibilities. APD identifies the service needs of people with developmental disabilities, and those individuals may receive social, medical, behavioral, residential, and/or therapeutic services.
